Press release N°20 Innovation, new functions and new aesthetic codes Thanks to a multimedia exhibition in the central hall of SIA Guest’08 (November 22-25, Rimini Fiera), the RiminiFiera’s leading expo dedicated to the hospitality sector, it will be possible to appreciate the projects developed by the architects and designers selected worldwide who attended the third edition of the courses of high standard training in “Hotel Experience Design - Lounge, Bar, Garden & Lobby, Design for the hospitality spaces”, the new specialisation to design and plan with innovative solutions hotel common spaces, and “Bathroom Design – Designing private spaces in public venues”, the first course in Europe centred on the bathroom environments in public venues, that are organised by POLI.design – Consortium of Politecnico di Milano. A multimedia exhibition in the central hall and a cocktail with the teachers “I cooperate with the course Hotel Experience Design by POLI.design since its first edition. – explains Marco Piva – An enterprise that starts from the thought of the sociality areas and extends to the global planning of the building and the areas’ new functions. In all the structures that I see throughout the world, what strikes me are the functional and emotional elements of novelty, such as the lights and the materials. My attention is caught by the planning research and commitment that creates structures able to interpret the place, express the atmosphere of the territory in which they are set in.” “In the past hotels were designed as unchangeable places, on the contrary today they are continuously evolving and must be easily renovated in order to satisfy the pressing change in taste and desires. – states Simone Micheli – Also the common areas change at the same rate, or even faster, and they must be designed taking into consideration the ever higher demand for a rapid, dynamic consumption and the ever more frequent need of hybrid, multifunctional, involving venues.” “SIA Guest’08 is the exclusive Academic Partner of both courses, a cooperation that goes on since the beginning - explains Simone Castelli – and confirms that Rimini Fiera is attentive towards innovation and stimulates the market, in touch with POLI.design’s mission to operate as an active link between education, research and the industry. The final project work of both courses was centred on the historical Palace Montecatini that was designed by Giò Ponti in 1951 and is now seat of Radio Monte Carlo, the partner radio of the courses. Students have virtually refurbished part of it according to the course of studies they attended.
